Welcome to Fully Catholic.  I am Christopher Phillips.  I was born in Trinidad, a small island in the Caribbean.  By profession, I am an IT professional.  Back in the mid 80’s, I was extremely blessed to have been part of a Youth Leadership program that really enlightened my mind about the truth of my church, the Holy Roman Catholic Church. I remember sitting in the classroom and listening to the lecturer, Fr. John Theodore, speak about the history of the Catholic Church, about Mother Mary and about God’s love, and I felt so very proud to be a Catholic.  Since then, I’ve been constantly looking for ways and means to share the knowledge and the experience of faith that God has blest me with.

In June or July of 2003, I was asked to do a presentation on the topic “The Church and the Internet.” at the AEC Caribbean Youth Assembly, which was held in Trinidad. The theme of the assembly was “Do whatever He tells you.”  So I did research on the use of the Internet in the Church.  I spent some time praying about the theme and looking particularly at the following passages:

¹⁶Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. ¹⁷When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. ¹⁸Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ¹⁹Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in^[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  – (Matthew 28: 16-20)

⁷He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. ⁸But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – (Acts 1: 7-8)

The more I prayed and pondered on the theme and these two passages (above), the more I felt deep down inside that there was so very much more that can be done and that needed to be done to get the Gospel of Jesus Christ out to ‘all nations’, and that God had blest modern man with a fantastic means by which to carry out His command to ‘be His witnesses to the whole world’.

On the day of the presentation, as I started presenting the topic to those who were in the workshop, but was interrupted by a couple of the attendees, who remarked that the hoped that what I was presenting to them was not going to be mere talk, but that something would be done about it.  I remember looking them straight in their eyes and saying to them, “Yes! Something will be done about it. I will do something about it.” A great sense of conviction came over me, but to that point I had no clue of what I was going to do, nor of what God was asking of me.  For a moment, I thought to myself, “What did you get yourself into now Chris?”

At the final day of the Assembly, I sat waiting for the proceeding to commence as the theme song of the Assemble played over and over again.  I listened to that song “Do whatever He tells you” more than a dozen times that afternoon, and every time it played, I recalled that promise I made to do something about the topic I had presented.  Then it hit me.  So many Catholic do not know their faith and so many people the world over, misinterpret or are totally ignorant of the teachings of the One, True, Holy, Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church.  God had blest me and now He was asking me to pass on this blessing to others via the Internet.  Then the name Fully Catholic came to mind, because there are so many Catholics who do not know the truth about their faith.  The first version of the website was published in August of 2003.

FullyCatholic.Com seeks to make the true teaching of the Catholic Church available to you so that you too may share in the absolute joy of our faith.  The vision for this site it that it will capitalize on the benefits of the internet, particularly the following:

• The Internet offers important benefits and advantages from a religious perspective: “They carry news and information about religious events, ideas, and personalities; they serve as vehicles for evangelization and catechesis.

• The Internet has a remarkable capacity to overcome distance and isolation, bringing people into contact with like-minded persons of good will who join in virtual communities of faith to encourage and support one another.

• Although the virtual reality of cyberspace cannot substitute for real interpersonal community, the incarnation reality of the sacraments and the liturgy, or the immediate and direct proclamation of the gospel, it can complement them, attract people to a fuller experience of the life of faith, and enrich the religious lives of users. It also provides the Church with a means for communicating with particular groups—young people and young adults, the elderly and home-bound, persons living in remote areas, the members of other religious bodies—who otherwise may be difficult to reach.

It is my prayer and that also of all who have helped me thus far, that your life will be tremendously blessed as a result of FullyCatholic.Com.  The Word of God says that the ‘truth will set you free’.  We pray that those who are imprisoned by ignorance of the truth of the Catholic Church will experience the liberation that the truth brings.
