The True Meaning Of Easter
Is Easter about chocolate and candy?
Is it about the Easter bonnet parade?
Is it about the cute little Easter bunny?
Is it about all those delightful Easter Eggs?
Actually Easter is not about any of these things.
Easter is the climax of a love story
A love story of GOD who in spite of our wretchedness
Still loves us.
It is the climax of the persistence of our Father
Who has never given up on the reason why we were created.
It is a love story so sweet, that no Easter chocolate can ever compare.
It is a love so pure that the most beautiful of Easter bonnets can never match.
It is the height of a Father’s love that never gives up on us
Even though we have turned our backs and rejected Him.
It is the power of Love to reach beyond the grave ,
And so give us all the chance to touch Eternity.
It is the power of Love that emphatically said to death,
“Death, you do not have the final say!”
And has turned death into a womb that births us into Eternal Life.
It is the power of Love that conquers every evil.
It is a powerful love story about GOD who so wanted to be with us, His underserved prodigal children,
That HE left the comfort of HIS home in Heaven, to become like one of us, but lower – a slave.
And even though HIS state was divine, He so wanted to enter into our humanity,
That HE did not hold on to HIS equality with GOD.
Easter shows the irony of GOD who to the world appeared to be weak,
But in HIS apparent weakness was a STRENGTH and a POWER that this world has never seen,
Nor will it ever be seen except in GOD alone,
For in the moment of HIS greatest pain,
In the moment of HIS greatest anguish,
In the moment HE laid down HIS life and bore the cross, the mighty cross
He was building a highway that was not there before,
So that us wretched sinners may enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Easter is the manifestation of GOD’S Plan of Salvation
To save us all from eternal death and damnation.
Easter is therefore a time of GREAT JOY when we celebrate the LOVE of GOD
WHO sees us not as we are, but as what we could be.
Easter is a time when we remember who we are in CHRIST and because of CHRIST.
At Easter, we remember the words of JESUS saying,
“I will lay down my life on my own, and take it up once again.”
At Easter, we remember and we celebrate with GREAT UNSPEAKABLE JOY
Knowing that JESUS IS NOT DEAD! HE IS ALIVE!
ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN!
THANK GOD HE IS ALIVE!
THANK GOD THE TOMB IS EMPTY!
Now we are no longer doomed to eternal death and damnation,
But destined to ETERNAL LIFE.
ALLELUIA! HE IS ALIVE!
