New Pope Elected!
It is with great joy that the Catholic Church and the world welcomes the news that a Pope has been elected! I know that during the season of Lent, the word or the exclamation Alleluia is omitted. However, I cannot help but shout ALLELUIA!! God bless the Pope!
White smoke emerged from the most famous chimney in the world just about 2:05PM (Trinidad time), which was just after 7:00PM in Rome. As the smoke went up, so did the cheers of the tens of thousands gathered at St. Peter’s Square. From what I have heard, it is very cold there, but the warmth of this rather great news I am sure, has and will continue to warm the heart and bodies of those gathered there. As the cheers of the thousands gathered there went up, the bells at St Peter’s rang out with joy!
All of the Catholic Church and indeed even non-Catholics the world over, now await the identity of who our new Holy Father is. The Papal band as well as the Swiss Guards have come out and assumed their normal position. Now with anxious breath, we now await the identity of our new Pope, as well as what name he will assume.
