What is the ninth commandment?
Of the ten commandments, the ninth commandment says, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor’s.” The ninth commandment demands that:-
- We should never do anything to weaken or damage our marriage commitments through my obsession with someone else
- Similarly, we should not do anything to weaken or damage someone else’s marriage
- We must not say or do anything that will make a mockery of the sacred promises of marriage
This commandment encourages the purification of our hearts through prayer, the practice of chastity and purity of intention and of vision.
